I am eternally grateful to all of my clients, subscribers, and supporters; the driving force behind what I do as a personal trainer and coach! This month’s email will highlight some of the special people I’ve been particularly inspired by lately.
First I’d like to introduce Buddy, born in 1929, well known for his quote “The only thing I hate worse than the gym, is not going to the gym.” Well put, Buddy.
Despite a rotator cuff injury that caused him to rethink overusing heavy weights, Buddy continues to workout regularly and has been active all his life.
Next meet Phyllis. Born in 1936, she keeps a workout schedule that includes paddleboarding, and recently has started using the Bosu ball. The Bosu is a halved rubber ball used to add a balance element while doing drills or lifting weights. When asked what her secret was to completing 20 pushups on the Bosu ball, Phyllis kept her response simple: “Persistence.”
Speaking of the Bosu ball, last we have Lea, who is pictured above standing on one! Nice work, Lea.
Denise’s Two Cents:
Clients continuously inspire me and I’m intrigued to learn what motivates them to stay fit and active. Especially as we age, I see that keeping a steady momentum is truly important to keeping healthy.
Incorporate movement into your life however you can: walk, ride a bike, take a swim, try yoga, take a zumba or dance class. Try to find something you love!
It’s possible you won’t REALLY love exercise…I’m willing to admit that. There are still some great ways to make a positive change. Find a friend (or two!) to partner with and get moving! Knowing you won’t be exercising solo can be a helpful motivator. Have a friend with a pet? Try taking Fido for a walk while the owner runs errands. You would be helping them both while also improving your health.
Thanks for Checking In!
